How to Use Patterns in Your Stationery Designs

Whether I’m designing for weddings, social events, or corporate clients I ALWAYS have patterns in the back of my head.  I use patterns as the finishing touches in a stationery suite or fully branded event stationery.  The patterns helps to carry out a theme, add style, provide an unexpected design element, along with helping to fill in “white space” that is not intentional.
Today I’d like to share some ways in which you can use patterns to make your invitations and stationery even more FABULOUS!

Baby Shower Storybook Invitations

Storybook style invitations instantly take you back to memories from your childhood, or ones that you’ve created with your children.  This was definitely the case when Mommy Keisha decided that she wanted me to create custom invitations for her Vintage Winnie The Pooh themed baby shower.  She is a repeat client who always gives me creative control so I came up with this idea that was inspired by the Antique Winnie The Pooh storybooks I discovered while researching her theme. I’m sssoooo in love with how super cute they turned out and I couldn’t wait to share them with you!
The overall invitation was designed in a soft blue and chocolate brown color palette for a little boy.  The storybook style invitation was made from thick and sturdy card stock that was gold foil printed and double scored to look and feel like an actual book!  Don’t you love how the “title” is also printed on the spine of the book!  Inside of the book featured pages containing scenes from Winnie The Pooh books and the formal wording inviting guests to the shower.  The RSVP card was designed as library checkout card and was held in it’s own pocket inside of the book.  The finishing touches were the custom envelope liner and the coordinating thank you cards!

Designer Dalmatian Themed Baby Shower Invitations

Adorable Dalmatian themed baby shower invitations were designed for one of my fav repeat clients, Sheree, as her and her family celebrated the arrival of Baby Boy #2. She is one of my bling loving clients so we had to find a way to glam up these invitations a bit, while still keeping them boy friendly. We added a custom printed envelope liner to beautiful royal blue envelopes, and a single swarovski crystal embellishment to the custom drawn dog collar on the invitation. An additional insert card was also included in this set!

Rustic Fall Owl Baby Shower Invitations

Today’s featured invitation design is super special because they were designed for the intimate baby sprinkle for our second son! We chose to host an intimate sprinkle (small baby shower) for close family and friends at my favorite italian restaurant, Maggiano’s. The invitations were an oversized 7″ square flat panel that featured woodgrain textured card stock. The oversized ivory envelopes also featured a cutesy owl printed envelope liner. I’ll follow up with another post with pictures from the event!

Sprinkle Themed Baby Shower Invitations

Pink, girly and pretty describe these recent invitations that were created for a sprinkle themed baby shower. Two shades of metallic pink card stock and fabulous gold glitter paper were used in this set! The mailing envelopes also had the sprinkle design featured with the return address.
