Save The Date Card Planning | Engagement Photos

Having your engagement photos make an appearance on your Save The Date (S-T-D) Cards is a great way to “show off” you and your fiance. By printing them on your S-T-D’s you don’t have to worry about having them on your formal invitations or day of stationery. You want to make sure you take your photos right away so that you have plenty of time for your photographer to send you a disc of all of your edited photos that can be forwarded to your stationery designer. Your S-T-D’s will need to be sent 6-8 months before your wedding.

A great discussion to have with your photographer is the style of pictures that you’d want to have. If you’re sending out a formal card + envelope style then you may want posed/staged photos. Photo journalistic style photos look great on styles that focus on your pictures as the main design aspect. If you’re doing a more unique style such as a movie poster then you’d want the shots to be similar to those you would see on real life billboard and movie posters.

I’ve gathered some images from around the web to give you some inspiration to plan your photo shoot. The most important thing is to have fun!

Save The Date Card Planning | What Style?

Congratulations to all of the newly engaged couples! Now that you’ve said yes and collected a ton of wedding magazines for inspiration it’s time to get down to the logistics of your wedding design and paper needs. If you’ve already chosen the colors and style of your wedding then you’re already on track! The most important step that you’ll also be choosing is your wedding date and venue. Once these details are all in place you can begin to think about your Save The Date Cards (S-T-D’S). Your S-T-D’s can be your opportunity to do something fun and unexpected to really show off your personalities. Just because you are planning a ballroom wedding, doesn’t mean you have to send very formal save the dates out. They should still be nice of course, but don’t be afraid to really express yourself.

Think about your favorite hobby….travel destination…restaurant…movie…sorority/fraternity. What imagery represents you as a couple? How about a movie poster for movie buffs? Or sports ticket for football fanatics? A small boxed package of a mini wine bottle with custom printed label for wine connoisseurs. The possibilities are endless!

I’ll be doing a series of posts to help you plan your S-T-D’s because there are more details involved then you may think. Be sure to subscribe to receive them in your email or you can add us to your blog reader. If you’re ready to get started on yours just contact us through the page on this site by clicking the button at the top of this page.
